October Give Away From KABbeading

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This month I am happy to feature KABbeading! She has a variety of Earrings Necklaces Bracelets & Recycled Cork Ornaments. This month we are giving away a pendant with 2 sweet angels. The winner will choose how the pendant is finished: ribbon necklace, have a large lobster clasp added for purse accessory, or just a split ring added and they can add to a charm bracelet or necklace of their own.

Here is Kelly's touching story about Breast Cancer:

I am Kelly Boyd with KABbeading. October being "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" has had special meaning to me since my grandmother beat Breast cancer over 8 years ago. Then, my mother was diagnosed and beat it five years ago. Now, I just had a funeral for a friend who was 72 and found a lump over four years ago. She choose to ignore it, until it was too late. All I can say is this, if you find breast cancer or it is found through routine screening, get it treated as soon as possible. The sooner it is treated, usually treatment is less evasive and you have a greater chance of beating it.
DO self breast exams. Did you know that it is best if you perform them while lying down?
DO discuss with your doctor your chances and when the best time is to start mammograms.
DON'T wait to get treatment if you find something suspicious.
I am passionate about many things. One of course is Breast Cancer Awareness. I also am a full time mom of two boys, ages 1 and 2. I am a full time Funeral Director/Embalmer and Jewelry Designer. I believe that memories are timeless. That is why I felt the need to start working with resin. You can "trap" memories in terms of photographs, locks of hair, dried flowers and turn them in jewelry or even holiday ornaments. I also make beaded necklaces, bracelets and holiday ornaments that are made out of recycled wine corks.
My Etsy shop is www.KABbeading.etsy .com I am also on consignment with Aimmee's Cottage, located in downtown Plainfield, Illinois.

September Giveaway for Dodelinedesign

This month I am happy to feature dodelinedesign! This seller has a variety of note cards, invitations and more!

Here is what Sarah had to say about her craft:
I am a May '09 BFA graduate of the University of Georgia, who stumbled on Etsy last summer when I was having a really hard time finding work. I thought at first that I had to find a full-time job and that was the only way you can survive -- that's what they make you think, right? But I found Etsy and I was immediately inspired. I had already been sketching ideas for cards and logos and all sorts of things, but I had no clue how to get started making it a business, and that's where Etsy came in.
Since that time, I have become a successful & happy freelancer! I have been designing websites since I was 12 (sounds silly, I know), but I started doing logos and graphics and websites for people on Etsy and then that expanded to local businesses and businesses all over the country. The detour into more business related graphics was wonderful because it gave me the know-how and the finances to explore my original plan - stationery!
My designs are a blend of modern and traditional. I don't pin myself down to any one style - I love them all. I think my coastal roots show through and right now a lot of my designs are related to the Lowcountry, but I have big plans for new designs to come!

There are lots of ways to keep up with me! Here are my links:
www.dodelinedesign.com (main portfolio site, web design & business graphics)
www.stationerybydodeline.com (shop for stationery products)
You can get to my blog via either of these sites, but the blog is: www.thequirkydesigner.com
Follow me on FB! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mount-Pleasant-SC/Dodeline-Design/242737230722?v=wall&ref=sgm&ajaxpipe=1&__a=13
If you follow me on FB, email sarah@dodelinedesign.com to let me know and you'll get a free shipping coupon!
I would like to giveaway an 8pk of thank you notes: http://www.etsy.com/listing/55077968/modern-royal-thank-you-card-gift-set
*Or they could choose a different design of equivalent value.

Giveaway from Makethemsayyumyum

June's Winner was: Amanda Stephan- http://www.thepriceoftrust.com/
Thanks to all who entered!

This month Makethemsayyumyum is giving away a cute Hot Dog Charm! (chain not included)

A little Bit about Makethemsayyumyum:

I have always considered myself a crafty and creative person. Even growing up. It fascinates me how so many people can have so many different and unique talents. Most of the time they go unnoticed.

This Is My Story

I like to work on any of my art that I can with friends. So needless to say when I am feeling up for it I visit a friend and take my supplies along with me.

About a year ago a friend and I were looking for something fun and crafty to do. We were looking for something we had never experimented with before. We browsed around on the internet for different ideas. She found a craft that she loved. She now uses resin, which I have yet to damper in yet. From what I have seen her do it looks very tricky to use.

I have always wanted to work with clay but thought it was to messy. Until I found out about polymer clay. It is great and very easy to use. I saw all these different items being made out of it as well. Although there was one particular genre that I found the most fun. That is making little foods.

So I thought to myself “Hey, I can do that!”. So I decided to go down to my local craft store and pick up just a few blocks of clay. When I got home I was so excited and was having trouble deciding on what to make first. I looked for what might be the easiest to do. Then I saw the cupcakes. Oh, they are so much fun! There is an unlimited amount of things you could add or do with them. So my very first charm I ever made was a cupcake with red icing and white polka dots. I still have that little charm and it will be the only one that I will never sell.

I eventually started getting better and better at making the little foods. I got compliments on them all the time and was told that I should try and sell them. I never thought that anyone would actually like to buy them but I was wrong. People love them! A friend told me about a site called etsy. So I decided to set up an account and get started. Now I haven’t had much luck on there but there is also a lot of competition on that site. A lot of people sell the same kinds of items as I do.

One day a friend of a friend told me about an art store close to where I used to live that does consignment. Then I thought maybe it was about time that I branch out a little bit. I gathered all my and headed to Baltimore. I was not the only person that had taken my things to this art store though. It didn’t bother me though because there were some wonderful pieces of artwork in there. The owner was very friendly and decided to take all of my things. So you can imagine how very excited I was. Not just because she took all my items but because my things were actually going to be sold in a little shop.

Since then I have moved to Dayton and I am looking for some places that might do the same thing for me here. I have slipped away for a little while from making anything. But I am ready to jump full for back into making some fun new pieces. I anyone has any suggestions then feel free to voice your opinion. I have pictures on here of all my items or you can go to my etsy at www.makethemsayyumyum.etsy.com

I take custom orders! If you have any questions or comments then feel free to e-mail me at thebeehiveshop@yahoo.com

Giveaway from hARTjewelry

For the Month of June I will be featuring hARTjewelry of Etsy

About the Artist:
Originally, I graduated with a degree in Textile Design and worked as a colorist in the textile industry while painting on silk and canvas in my spare time. After moving to Alaska, I started apprenticing with a local jeweler, and made a switch from fine and wearable art to jewelry making. Hence the name of the business - Change of hART (both change of heart and change of art). Currently, I live and work in Wichita, KS and, apart from my Etsy shop, I have my own website at www.changeofhartonline.com and some of my items featured at a local brick and mortar store, The Onion Tree. I also sell my jewelry and accessories at numerous craft shows in the Wichita area. Apart from creating my original designs, I enjoy working on custom orders as it gives me a great satisfaction to make a customer's idea become reality.

Spool's Pick for March

This month I am going to feature a wonderful glass artist that I have purchased from a few times.

O'Rouke Cut Glass is a fantastic glass artist. This artist has had the privilege of making the inaugural gift which was presented to President Obama and Vice President Biden at the 2009 inauguration. He has a small shop on etsy that features some of his smaller pieces. I have ordered from him there and have been very pleased! Glass Gift has awards, bowls, mugs, beer glasses, paperweights, ornaments, coasters and more! The etching is carved into the glass and has amazing precision! Please help support this wonderful art!

Do you have some glass that needs repair? We repair crystal and glass, as well as chips, and we remove cloudiness from decanters and vases.

Check out his shop at : http://aglassgift.com/store/page10.html
